Web 2.0 & The Pope
Saturday, January 24, 2009 at 1:26AM The Pope get's it!!
The Catholic Church has suffered from a fall-of in attendance for many years. Numerous scandals and busy 21st century lifestyles have not helped in it's crusade to reconnect with it's flock. The Church of old is equivalent to a social forum in todays internet. Parishoners met eachother, heard the message from the pulpit and felt connected through social activities in their community.
Fast forward to today where the Pope has gone back to basics and is using video to once again be part of today's modern social forum on the internet. Web 2.0 helped elect Obama to the White House and the Pope is taking a leaf out of his book with the Vatican channel on YouTube. If they won't come to you, you've got to get to them.
"New Technologies have an extraordinary potential, if used to favour understanding and human solidarity. These technologies are a real gift for humanity: therefore we have to make sure the advantages they offer are put to the service of all peoples and all communities"
Pope Benedict XVI.
The above example can be applied to Real Estate marketing. The landscape has shifted and new technology provides those nimble enough an opportunity to fill the void and stay connected with the marketplace through web 2.0.
